designing a new website

After a small break from web design in recent months, I am now in the process of setting up a new website to get me back into the world of art and design.

The difficulty, for me, is that web design has become increasingly more technical in the last few years. I fear my basic HTML skills do not cut it anymore, but I admit programming is, to me, the least interesting part of graphic design. I would much rather leave PHP, Flash, Java and CSS to the IT guys; my passion lies in colour, composition and expression - not in tags, codes and undecipherable technical jumbo-mumbo. Is that such a bad thing?

On the other hand, I am pleased to see that there are numerous great resources now available which I did not previously knew existed. One of these is Colour Lovers (www.colourlovers.com). I could spend hours browsing the palettes put together by its users; it is quite inspiring and a good tool should one ever get stuck on the issue of colour choice (which can be tricky).

Once the new website is up and running, I quite look forward to finally have a space for displaying artwork and posting any art-related tidbits that may cross my path, perhaps even the odd review.

Watch this space.
